On this day, people from Punjab and also from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu gather around bonfires to bid adieu to winter and welcome longer days with prayers, dance, and traditional Lohri songs. Lohri is a cultural celebration of Punjabi people, and has long been a staple of Bollywood films.
