TNT’s Charles Barkley is always going to say how he feels. And after seeing the coverage of LeBron James’ possible retirement take precedent over the Nuggets’ first ever NBA Finals appearance, the Hall of Famer didn’t hold back.
“I was so mad [on Tuesday] morning I actually turned the TV off,” Barkley admitted. “Because the Denver Nuggets, who have been the best team in the world all season, sweep, get to the Finals for the first time [and the coverage was on LeBron.]”
“Listen, we all love LeBron,” Chuck continued. “He didn’t say he was retiring yet. When he does that, we’ll do all that other stuff. But it should’ve been all about the Denver Nuggets and Joker, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter and those guys.”

Viewers reacted to Barkley’s viral comments on Twitter.
“If the NBA & its writers/analysts actually talked about basketball in purpose to further the basketball discussion & have the narrative formed by basketball rather than playing into a cycle of forming the narrative, forcing it, & refusing to give it up, this wouldn’t be an issue,” a user said.

“Barkley is right that it should’ve been about the Denver Nuggets but that’s not what is most interesting to the audience. You shouldn’t have to go on TV telling ppl what the discussion should be about,” a fan tweeted. “The discussion ends up being what ppl are most interested in discussing.”

“He might be right but at the end of the day they’re a business. A business that profits based on viewership. Unfortunately nobody gives a f— about Denver making the finals except for Denver. Naturally they’re gonna talk about the things people care about. Pretty simple really.”
