Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons made waves and may have ticked off the entire state of Texas by sporting a Philadelphia 76ers jersey at their recent playoff game.

But Parsons defended the decision to represent the 76ers at the game. Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Parsons pointed out that he was specifically repping 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey because he hails from Dallas, Texas.

“Maxey from Texas lol!!” Parsons wrote. His tweet has gone viral with over 14,000 likes, 3.1 million views and nearly 1,000 retweets since yesterday.

Fans of both the Cowboys and the Eagles have taken to the comments to offer their own take on what it means. Some Eagles fans believe that it’s destined that the Pennsylvania-native will join their team some day.

“Bro wants to be apart of Philadelphia so bad,” one user replied.

“And you’re from Pennsylvania and went to Penn State, it’s okay bro we’re gonna get you in midnight green soon!!!” wrote another.

“It’s alright Micah, I am from Cali and love me some Cowboys and Sixers from the late 70s early 80s!!! Long time fan of both teams before I knew there was such a hatred between the fan bases,” a third user wrote.

That may all be cope from the Eagles fans, but this might hang over Parsons’ head for quite a while.
