Tonight’s Cavs-Grizzlies game featured a wild melee in the third quarter involving Donovan Mitchell and Dillon Brooks.
Brooks and Mitchell got tangled up going for a rebound, with Brooks falling to the floor. From there, the veteran wing lost his cool, punching Mitchell below the belt.
Understandably, Mitchell was angry, and as he fell to the ground, the All-Star guard fired the basketball at Brooks’ head, setting off a mini-brawl of sorts.
Both Brooks and Mitchell were ejected, but it was pretty clear that the Memphis forward was the one who was more in the wrong.
We’ll see what further punishment the NBA has coming for this incident. It seems likely that both guys will get fined, with a suspension for Brooks potentially on the table as well.
Currently, the Cavs lead the Grizzlies 99-87 at the end of three quarters. You can catch the final period on TNT.
