ESPN has apologized for an embarrassing mistake on Sunday afternoon.

During Game 1 of the Knicks vs. Heat second round series, ABC/ESPN accidentally aired an old stock image of New York City, showing the Twin Towers.

The image aired during the Game 1 broadcast.

ESPN has since apologized for the mistake.

“We mistakenly used an old stock image and we apologize,” ESPN said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

Mistakes happen, but that one was unfortunate.

Game 2 of the second round series is set for Tuesday evening from Madison Square Garden.
