LeBron James Jr. — aka Bronny — will always be compared to his father.
While this is an objective fact, it’s not necessarily fair for the young hooper who’s trying to forge his own path in the basketball world.
ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas recently shared his thoughts on Bronny’s basketball future.
“He’s a terrific player worthy of his McDonald’s All-American status — one of the top recruits in the country,” Bilas said, via USA Today Sports. “Do I believe we would be talking about him this much were he not LeBron James’ son? No, I don’t think we would be.
“That’s not to diminish the fact that he’s an outstanding player that I think will play in the NBA.”

Bronny is a four-star recruit and the No. 35 ranked player in the 2023 class, per 247Sports. It’s impossible to live up the the hype that LeBron created during his high school career, but Bronny has created some significant buzz for himself.
There’s no question that Bronny is a talented prospect, but his one-and-done projections are significantly inflated by his father’s standing in the NBA. LeBron has publicly expressed his desire to share the NBA court with his eldest son, making Bronny a very intriguing early pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Bronny is reportedly between three collegiate options: Oregon, USC and Ohio State.
