Joel Embiid was part of a scary situation in Philadelphia on Friday night.
During Game 3 against the Boston Celtics, the league MVP stepped on the back of Grant Williams’ head — pushing his face down into the court.
Williams’ face was bloodied by the blow and he was forced to go to the sideline for in-game repairs. He was ultimately able to return to the game after the fourth quarter incident.

This incident seemed to be a complete accident by Embiid — who went over to Williams to apologize and explain himself soon after he returned to the court. Williams forgave the Philly big man immediately.

“I was like, ‘Dang, I really got curb stomped,'” Williams joked after the game.
“It happens, man,” he added. “He was falling backward and I’m just thankful he didn’t fully lean his weight on it because he definitely got me pretty badly but then I think he felt like he landed on something so he picked his foot up.”
The Celtics took Game 3 with a 114-102 score and went up 2-1 in the series.
