On Wednesday night, Kevin Durant was sent to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster trade.
Earlier in the week, his former Brooklyn Nets teammate Kyrie Irving also found himself on his way to a new team — and it’s no secret that the point guard had his fair share of gripes with the organization on his way out.
Kyrie was asked about the KD trade after his debut with the Dallas Mavericks.
“I’m glad he got out of there,” he said.
Kyrie went on to add that he “learned a lot” from his teammates in Brooklyn, but it’s clear that he’s happy to be away from the Nets organization.
Irving dropped a team-high 24 points, five assists and four rebounds in his first game with the Mavericks, leading his new team to a 110-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
With KD now on his way to Phoenix, the two former teammates will now be competitors in the Western Conference.
