LOOK: Man declared DEAD – then wakes up inside morgue freezer

Call it a resurrection? The family of a man who was pronounced dead after being involved in a motorcycle accident was left utterly in shock, but presumably also relieved, when he turned out to be alive.

According to Agence France-Presse, Srikesh Kumar, a 45-year-old man from India was in a critical condition after being hit by the bike in Moradabad, east of New Delhi. He was then rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead by a doctor on arrival. Kumar’s body was then taken to a government medical facility where a post-mortem examination was conducted.

He was placed inside the morgue freezer, where he remained overnight.

“The emergency medical officer examined him. He did not find any signs of life and hence declared him dead,” Rajendra Kumar, the hospital’s medical superintendent, told the news agency.

Srikesh Kumar remains in a coma

Just six hours later, Srikesh Kumar’s family would visit the morgue. According to The Times of India, they had signed a document agreeing to an autopsy after they identified his body, however his sister-in-law noticed that Kumar was showing signs of movement.

“The emergency medical officer examined him. He did not find any signs of life and hence declared him dead. When a police team and his family came over to initiate the paperwork for the autopsy, he was found alive. This is nothing short of a miracle.”

Rajendra Kumar told AFP

Kumar remains in a coma and is currently receiving treatment. An investigation has also been launched to look into the circumstances surrounding the major error.
