Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is still unhappy about losing Jalen Brunson in free agency.
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Cuban revealed the person he blames for the team losing the star guard during the offseason.
“Mark Cuban is blaming Rick Brunson for the Mavs losing Jalen Brunson in free agency, saying “things went south when the parents got involved.”
Brunson improved yearly since the Mavericks drafted him in the second round in 2018. The Mavericks wanted to keep Brunson, but he signed a four-year, $104 max contract with the New York Knicks.
The team had two chances to re-sign Brunson before the 2021-22 season at a lower price but elected against doing so.
Brunson, 26, has played well in the Big Apple. He’s even enjoying a career-year, averaging 24.0 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on 49.1 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from long distance.
It’s understandable why Cuban sounds salty about losing Brunson.
