Update: On Thursday, it was revealed that Mark Jackson was the one person who did not include Nikola Jokic on his NBA MVP ballot.
The ESPN broadcaster has been roundly criticized for his omission, which he addressed during an appearance on Sirius XM NBA moments ago.
According to Jackson, it was merely a “mistake” on his part.
“Mistake. One thing I live by, you make a mistake, you own it. I’m not a guy that does it for clicks or to be trending. Absolute mistake made by me. I am thinking, how did I make that mistake?” he said, adding that he already apologized to Jokic and the Nuggets.

Jackson’s actual ballot featured Joel Embiid, the eventual MVP winner, in first, followed by Giannis Antetokpounmpo, who came in third in the voting behind Embid and Jokic.
Jayson Tatum, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Donovan Mitchell rounded out Jackson’s top 5.
