Earlier this Saturday, the NBA launched an investigation into the Mavericks’ roster decisions prior to their game against the Bulls on Friday night.
“The NBA commenced an investigation today into the facts and circumstances surrounding the Dallas Mavericks’ roster decisions and game conduct with respect to last night’s Chicago Bulls-Mavericks game, including the motivations behind those actions,” league spokesman Mike Bass said.
Although the NBA has launched an investigation into the Mavericks’ recent roster moves, that won’t stop them from sitting most of their impact players in their regular-season finale against the Spurs.
Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Reggie Bullock, Josh Green, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Maxi Kleber will all miss Sunday’s game.
The Mavericks say Luka Dončić (left thigh injury recovery), Kyrie Irving (right foot injury recovery), Reggie Bullock (rest), Josh Green (rest), Tim Hardaway Jr. (left ankle soreness) and Maxi Kleber (right hamstring injury recovery) will all miss Sunday’s game against the Spurs.

Many people believe the Mavericks are blatantly tanking because their first-round pick for the 2023 draft is top-10 protected. That pick would go to the Knicks if it falls outside that range.
A loss this Sunday for the Mavericks would clinch the 10th-worst record in the NBA.
With most of their impact players sidelined, the Mavericks could very well accomplish that goal.
