The Miami Heat surprised most NBA viewers by making the Eastern Conference Finals as the No. 8 seed. They must prove doubters wrong once more to defeat the Boston Celtics.
ESPN Analytics gives Boston a resounding 97 percent probability of advancing to the NBA Finals. Longtime Heat forward Udonis Haslem naturally doesn’t like that projection.
On The Dan Le Batard Show, Haslem had some unflattering nicknames for the forecasting system.
“I’m sure the assalytics, assaholycs, or whatever they call themselves, probably had us not beating Milwaukee in this first round,” Haslem said.

Haslem added that he “don’t listen to assalytics.”
In his defense, ESPN Analytics has already gotten embarrassed by favoring the Celtics too much. The model gave Boston an 86 percent chance of defeating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Golden State won the title with three straight double-digit victories.
The Heat and Celtics will compete for the Eastern Conference crown for the third time in four years. Boston narrowly survived with a 100-96 win in Game 7 last year, so Haslem expects another competitive series.
However, ESPN gives the Celtics an 85.6 percent chance of opening the series with a win at TD Garden. Game 1 takes place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
