Phoenix Suns star Deandre Ayton is going to want this effort back.
During Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Suns and Denver Nuggets, Ayton made no attempt to get a rebound on a defensive possession. He was just standing under the basket as Nikola Jokic kept getting every offensive rebound.
Here’s a look at the replay:

Ayton is lucky that the Suns got the ball back after Jokic missed or else this would’ve been a lot worse.
This can’t be the effort that you show during a playoff game, especially when the game is still within reach.
Ayton finished the contest with 14 points and seven rebounds as the Suns fell to the Nuggets, 125-107. They’re down by a game heading into Game 2, which is scheduled for Monday night at 10 p.m. ET.
Hopefully, Ayton will show a better effort in that one than he did in Game 1.
