Though his exact level of investment and stake may be unknown for now, one thing is official: Magic Johnson is now a part of the new Washington Commanders ownership group.
Sportico reported on Thursday that Commanders owner Dan Snyder has agreed to sell the team to a bid group led by sports team investor Josh Harris. Magic and Harris both have ownership stakes in various sports teams around the country.
Magic’s sports ownership portfolio already included the Los Angeles Dodgers, the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Football Club.
Fans are pumped for the new owners and many are already anticipating great things for the football team now that there’s new management at the top.

At $5.6-6 billion, the Commanders are being sold for the highest fee ever paid for a professional sports team.
The move ends the 20-plus year ownership of Dan Snyder, who has often been derided during his tenure with the team for a litany of reasons ranging from his stance on the team’s former nickname to the team’s on-field struggles to their front office legal issues.
With Snyder out you have to imagine that huge, sweeping changes are coming to the Washington franchise – potentially more than usual whenever there’s a new owner of a new sports team.
