The second-round playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors was unsurprisingly a ratings bonanza.

According to NBA Communications, the series averaged 7.8 million viewers per game across ABC, ESPN, and TNT. It was the most-watched conference semifinal series in 27 years.

The marquee matchup pitted the defending champions against a prestigious franchise with 17 titles. It also featured two all-time greats in LeBron James and Stephen Curry squaring off, potentially for the last time in a playoff series.

Los Angeles eliminated Golden State in six games behind 24.7 points and 8.8 rebounds from James. Curry also scored at least 20 points in every game.

Per Sports Media Watch, it drew the best second-round numbers since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls played the New York Knicks. Friday’s series-clinching game on ESPN also garnered the highest cable viewership in a first- or second-round since LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Boston Celtics in 2010.

While that’s a high benchmark to reach, plenty of fans will likely keep watching as James looks to return to the NBA Finals by defeating the Denver Nuggets. Game 1 begins Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
