A bizarre scene unfolded Sunday when Rudy Gobert swung at Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Kyle Anderson.
Gobert hit Anderson after the two exchanged heated words on the sideline during a timeout. A team reporter shared earlier comments from the All-Star center that don’t hold water following Sunday’s incident.
“Kyle wants to win, and sometimes he’s a little aggressive in the way he talks, but I don’t take it personally,” Gobert told The Star Tribune‘s Chris Hine. “I receive it in a positive way because it comes from a place of wanting me to be the best Rudy I can be and wanting us to win.”
I've been working on a piece about Kyle Anderson's leadership and his blunt, honest way of talking to teammates. I asked Rudy Gobert about him yesterday. He's what Rudy said. pic.twitter.com/l0kDs94lR5

It turns out Gobert might take Anderson’s comments a little personally.
Gobert was escorted to the locker room and sent home after the altercation, per Shams Charania.
The testy encounter came during the first half of a pivotal game against the New Orleans Pelicans. While the Timberwolves are locked into the play-in tournament, they can jump from No. 9 to 7 or 8 with a win over the Pelicans. That’s a major difference from needing one or two victories to advance.
They’ll finish the game without Gobert, and his status for the playoffs is now in question.
