Prior to this Thursday’s trade deadline, the Warriors acquired Gary Payton II in a four-team deal involving the Hawks, Pistons and Trail Blazers.

On Friday night, it was reported that this trade is “in jeopardy” because of concerns over Payton’s physical exam with the Warriors. The issue is centered around the abdominal surgery that Payton had last summer.

The Warriors have until this Saturday to either go through with the trade or rescind it.

As part of this deal, the Hawks would acquire Saddiq Bey, the Pistons would land James Wiseman, and the Trail Blazers would receive five second-round picks and Kevin Knox.

Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin discussed Payton’s health during a press conference on Friday.

“Player safety is super important to us it’s a super important thing around the league,” Cronin said, via ESPN. “We were playing him, he was playing, and he had been cleared and we were confident that he was healthy when he was playing. We would not have brought him back if we thought he wasn’t healthy or if he was at risk. So you trust that we did the right thing and trust that our process was correct.”

It’ll be interesting to see what the Warriors ultimately decide this weekend.
