The Sacramento Kings have been dealt a brutal injury blow in the middle of their first round series against Golden State.

According to reports, Kings star guard De’Aaron Fox fractured the tip of the index finger on his left shooting hand during Sunday’s Game 4 loss.

There’s “still hope” he can play in Game 5 tomorrow, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, but Fox will officially be listed as doubtful.

In general, the basketball world is understandably stunned by the news about Fox, who scored 38 points in defeat yesterday afternoon.

“Goodness,” said USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken.

“Wow,” added FS1’s Colin Cowherd.

“My God this first round is HELL,” said ESPN Radio’s Mike Golic Jr. “Just injuries and ejections everywhere. This stinks on ice.”

“Noticed Fox looking at his finger last night, but didn’t expect this…Brutal,” said Gibson Pyper of Half Court Hoops.

“Makes those late G4 4Q buckets even more impressive,” noted the Warriors World Twitter account.

“Just the worst. The absolute worst. Gutted,” lamented Sactown1140’s Frankie Cartoscelli.

Fox, who averaged 25.0 points per game during the regular season, is averaging 31.5 in four games against the Warriors in the playoffs.

The Kings and Warriors are tied 2-2 with a pivotal Game 5 on the horizon tomorrow night.
