The Memphis Grizzlies are hosting the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series Wednesday evening. Ian Eagle is providing the call for TNT.

Eagle prepared for the assignment, particularly when it came to Desmond Bane.

The broadcaster made multiple Batman references when calling action around the Grizzlies guard, who shares a name with The Dark Knight Rises villain.

“Ian Eagle just said ‘Desmond Bane, not a Joke, not a Riddle’ on the call for the Lakers-Grizz game. Protect this man at all costs,” NBC15 Madison’s Colton Molesky wrote on Twitter.

“‘Time to go mobile for Bane’ is a line that only Ian Eagle could come up with,” a fan said.

“Ian Eagle is an elite announcer in general, but he really shines when he can pun someone’s last name after they score,” The Ringer’s Rodger Sherman declared.

“I’m continuously amazed by just how much chemistry Ian Eagle has with literally everyone he’s paired with,” a fan said. “Dude is next level delightful.”

Bane gave Eagle plenty of chances by scoring 13 points during the opening half. The third-year pro is more crucial to Memphis’ chances than ever with Ja Morant sitting out Game 2.

Even with Morant sidelined, the Grizzlies went into halftime up 59-44. They’ll look to protect their lead and send the series back to Los Angeles at 1-1.
