Karl Malone is an NBA legend and one of the greatest power forwards to ever touch the hardwood. He’s also at the center of one of the most disturbing controversies in sports.
After appearing in Utah for this year’s All-Star game many fans pushed back; pointing to the scandal that he impregnated a 13-year-old girl while attending Louisiana Tech.
In a recent story with the Salt Lake Tribune, Malone was dismissive of the concerns. Saying, “I’m not discussing any of that backlash. I don’t care. That’s my life, that’s my personal life, and I’ll deal with that like I’ve had to deal with everything. So, whatever.”
The sports world reacted to The Mailman’s comments on social media.
“I can’t think of a worse way to answer this,” tweeted Sean Barnard. “It is wild the NBA still [showcases] this man.”
“We don’t care what you think,” a fan replied. “You’re a pedo and will forever live by that name.”
“He could’ve apologized or something,” a user cried.
“He can actually go to jail,” another said.
“‘Personal life’ buddy you committed a horrible crime.”
Malone largely escaped answering to his transgressions over the course of his lengthy NBA career. But in recent years, it’s continued to resurface more and more.
