Stephen Curry chimed in on this season’s hotly-contested NBA MVP race.

Per Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, the two-time MVP believes Embiid deserves the honor over Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“Any person you pick, their body of work could be compared to Jokić or Giannis,” Curry said. “But Joel took a leap that I think a lot of people didn’t expect because he was dominant already. That leap turned heads and put Philly in a great position. If I had to pick, it would be him.”

Some fans like Curry’s pick, but others suggested the Golden State Warriors star had an ulterior motive. He and Embiid are both Under Armour endorsers.

“Steph knows ball,” a fan wrote.

“Ballers know,” another fan said.

“Under Armour gang, nothing to see here,” a fan claimed.

“Did you expect him to say Jokic or Giannis who are both Nike athletes?” Mo Mooncey
asked.

“Steph starting the campaign early,” another fan speculated.

Embiid is averaging 33.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks this season for the 51-27 Philadelphia 76ers. He’s setting a personal high in effective field-goal rate (56.7%) despite attempting a career-high 21 shots per game.

The 29-year-old center is a deserving choice, but so are Jokić and Giannis. The Denver Nuggets star is nearly averaging a triple-double in his quest to win his third straight MVP, and the “Greek Freak” has tallied a career-high 31.1 points per contest for the first-place Milwaukee Bucks.

Three highly qualified superstars could make this one of the closest MVP votes in recent memory.
