On Thursday morning, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski had unfortunate news to share regarding Bulls guard Lonzo Ball.
Ball, who hasn’t played a single game this year due to a knee injury, may need a third surgical procedure on his right knee. If that happens, he’ll face a six-month recovery period.
“There is a growing possibility that Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball will need a third surgical procedure on his right knee that would likely require another six months of recovery and rehabilitation,” Wojnarowski said.
The Bulls and Ball’s representatives at Klutch Sports will consult specialists before making a final decision. A procedure would delay the possibility of him ramping up for a return in the 2023-2024 season.
As you’d expect, basketball fans feel terrible for Ball.
“This has been the most confusing basketball injury I’ve ever seen,” one fan said.
“It just keeps getting worse man,” another fan wrote. “I feel so bad for Zo.”
“Lonzo Ball has truly been through the injury gauntlet man. Sheesh,” a Twitter user added.
The Bulls signed Ball to a four-year, $80 million contract prior to the start of the 2021-22 season.
Ball has not played since January of 2022
