As the NBA’s regular season draws to a close, teams around the league are jockeying for playoff position. One of those teams is the Los Angeles Lakers, who currently sit at seventh in the Western conference standings.
The Lakers are set to take on the Clippers tomorrow, and Stephen A. Smith has a message for one Lakers player in particular.
.@stephenasmith NEEDS to know … Is Anthony Davis going to play? ????

Smith sent a pointed message to Lakers star big man Anthony Davis on this morning’s episode of First Take.
“You can’t be sitting down at this time of year,” Smith said. “Not with the money you’re making, not with a playoff berth on the line, not with championship aspirations, supposedly, in your window.”
Davis has missed time this season, but stepped up after the NBA’s trade deadline – and in LeBron James’ absence with his foot injury.
Since returning from injury, Davis is averaging 26 points per game and 12.6 rebounds per game. The Lakers, who were once the 13th seed, far out of even the NBA’s Play-In tournament, are now firmly in the playoff picture.
If results work in their favor, they could ascend to as high as the 5th seed – and avoid the play-in tournament altogether.
Much of it hinges on the health and availability of their star players, and that includes Anthony Davis.
