Steve Kerr has coached many Golden State Warriors playoff games with Mike Brown on his coaching staff.
Now Kerr prepares to coach against Brown for the first time in the postseason.
The sixth-seeded Warriors prepare to face the third-seeded Sacramento Kings in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
While talking to reporters on Wednesday, Kerr clarified his opinion on Brown.
“We texted when the matchups came out. I think everybody in our building feels so happy for Mike, what he did for us while he was here, and how much he contributed to our championships and culture. It was just a great, great partnership,” Kerr said.
Brown was on Kerr’s coaching staff during the team’s four championship victories, and played a role in making the Warriors one of the best teams in the league.
Brown is a coach of the year candidate after guiding the Kings to their first playoff appearance in nearly two decades.
