Steve Kerr is making another lineup tweak ahead of Monday night’s Game 4.
Gary Payton II will start in a small-ball lineup for the Golden State Warriors, who are down 2-1 to the Los Angeles Lakers. Hours before tipoff, NBA insider Shams Charania reported the tweak.
Kerr acknowledged the spoiler during his pre-game press conference.
When a reporter began a question by saying Kerr is “out of the lineup sharing business,” the coach said it’s OK because “Shams is in the lineup sharing business.” Kerr then made light of the report when asked if he told Charania his plans.
“No, we have a special correspondent within our organization who shares information with him, apparently,” Kerr said jokingly, per Warriors on NBC Sports.

Despite Kerr’s jokes, he once again tinkered with his starting lineup as Charania reported.
Kevon Looney started Game 1’s loss, and JaMychal Green has started the last two games. Kerr will pivot from the big men to Payton, a 6-foot-2 guard who has played 34 minutes this series.
The four-time NBA champion also altered his starting five during Golden State’s first-round series against the Sacramento Kings. Draymond Green returned off the bench after a one-game suspension, but he started Game 7’s win and every game against the Lakers.
Game 4 begins at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
