Lords of the Fallen Will Reduce The Soulslike Typical Frustration With A Lengthy “Onboarding” Experience

0

Soulslike games aren’t the most accessible around, often hiding important information from the player to leave them to learn it by themselves, but it seems like Lords of the Fallen, the reboot of the series launching later this year on PC and consoles, will attempt to reduce the frustration coming from this typical setup.

Speaking with GamesRadar, Creative Director Cezar Virtosu confirmed the game will have a “lengthy onboarding experience”, as he believes the difference between frustration and motivation is understanding why one has failed. This onboarding experience will teach players everything they need to know about the game’s mechanics while giving them plenty of time to practice and get ready for an experience that promises to be more challenging than that of its predecessor.

More than a proper sequel, Lords of the Fallen will be a reboot of the series. Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and set a thousand years after the events of its predecessor, the new entry in the series will feature a much bigger world, a higher level of challenge, and seamless co-op that will allow players to enjoy the game together without being forced to interact with any specific object or use items. This alone will be enough to set the game apart from the many soulslike that were released in the past few years which followed the formula created by FromSoftware a little too closely.

As for when players will be able to venture into the world of Lords of the Fallen and check out its lengthy onboarding experience, no one can say right now. The game will release before the end of the year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and we will let you know about its precise release date as soon as possible.
