Music for medicine
A Los Gatos orchestra is sharing its music with thousands of people in need across the country. Nova Solisti Chamber Orchestra, a local professional ensemble, has partnered with Musicians On Call, a nonprofit that organizes live and recorded musical performances to people in healthcare facilities. The group recorded its September 2022 concert and has broadcast its performance to several hospitals this year.
Nova Solisti will also record its upcoming concerts—taking place May 20 at Mission Santa Clara and May 21 at First Lutheran Church of Palo Alto—to continue providing music for patients and caregivers. For tickets to the May shows, visit www.novasolisti.org.
Hazard survey
Residents know the various hazards of their town—which roads tend to flood, where trees have fallen in the past, where earthquakes have made cracks in the pavement. County officials are asking residents to share their expertise and experiences in a new survey to help their long-term hazard mitigation plans.
The short survey is available in multiple languages at www.PrepareSCC.org/MJHMPSurvey.
Take out the trash
The town’s environmentally friendly programming continues next Saturday, April 29, with a low-cost paper shredding and free e-waste drop-off event. The event, hosted by EQ1 Real Estate, will take place at 236 N. Santa Cruz Ave. from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents can pay $6 per box to have their paper shredded, or drop off things like TVs, cameras, lamps and more free of charge.
