Jarrette Jones and Iyanna McNeely have confirmed their split in a joint statement, after more than a year together.
However, despite taking their romance to the next level on the series, which landed on the streaming platform in February, and tying the knot in front of their loved ones, the pair have announced their plans to divorce.
‘What’s going on, family. After much thought, we’re saddened to share that we have separated and will begin the process of divorcing,’ a message shared on both Iyanna and Jarrette’s Instagram pages read.
‘While we have love for each other, our lives are going in different directions and that’s okay.
‘Coming to this decision was far from easy and we will always wish each other the absolute best.
‘We hope you all will give us some space as we close this chapter of our lives.’
‘Thank you to our close friends and family for loving us both through our experience,’ they continued. ‘To the Love Is Blind family and Netflix, thank you for this unforgettable opportunity and support.
‘Each of you have brought overwhelming love and joy into our lives. This experience has taught us so much about ourselves, vulnerability and love.
‘We don’t regret a single thing!’
Alongside the statement, Iyanna added in a caption: ‘We love you all!’
The news may come as a shock to fans as Iyanna and Jarrette publicly celebrated their one-year anniversary in June.
The former lovebirds first started talking in the pods on Love Is Blind and eventually decided to get engaged – before even laying eyes on one another.
After finally meeting, they took their romance to the next level and said their ‘I dos’ in a stunning ceremony, which was captured on camera for the Netflix series.
However, it wasn’t an easy walk to the altar as the groom was caught up in a love triangle with fellow contestant Mallory, who he had also forged a connection with.
Iyanna admitted that it was hard to see the pair bond on the show, later telling Us Weekly: ‘It was just so awkward. But at the same time, while the feelings felt fresh, I was constantly reminding myself, “That’s not who he is.”
‘And he’s proven for almost nine months now who he actually is. I’m not gonna make excuses for him, but I think it was just how fresh everything was.’
‘We’ve moved past that. We’ve grown past,’ Jarette added at the time. ‘I’ve done everything that I needed to do every day to just reassure [Iyanna] that, you’re the only one and I made the right choice, and I made the choice for a reason.
Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix now.
