Meanwhile, the success of Love Island this year has once again been phenomena. The launch episode for this summer’s series was streamed 7.5 million times and the series as a whole has been streamed more than 74 million times.

Love Island has once again proved itself to be the nation’s favourite talking point across the summer, and we’re always blown away by the show’s ongoing impact and talkability amongst our younger audience,” Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and controller at ITV2, says.

“So, rather than just serving up a Summer of Love, we thought we’d make 2023 the Year of Love with two full series of the show.”

Love Island will kick off once again in January/February 2023 in South Africa, and will return in Mallorca in the summer.

The show has seen several success stories and Faye and Teddy, who met on the 2021 series and are still together, recently gushed that “without Love Island our two worlds would never have met”.

Faye said: “We were put through tests which proved our connection was real and untouchable, showing the world that two opposites can attract.

“We were able to learn so much about each other in such a short period of time yet we are still learning but with an amazing unbreakable bond which we owe Love Island for.”

Chloe and Toby, who were runners-up in last year’s series and are still loved up to this day, have also weighed in: “Love Island was the BEST Summer of our lives! We both had so much fun.” How cute!

Love Island continues tonight at 9PM on ITV2 and ITV HUB.
