The TV stars, both 28, scooped the £50,000 prize after winning last year’s series, winning the hearts of the nation with their tempestuous but relatable romance.
Some of the most iconic moments in the show’s long history seem to have come from the duo, from Ekin-Su’s memorable crawl, to Davide’s exasperated outbursts, like when he said his beau was as ‘fake as a Louis Vuitton from China’.
Since the long-running show ended, the Turkish influencer and the Italian model moved in with one another, and even filmed a travel show where they visited each other’s home countries to sample the local culture and delicacies.
However, while they looked to be going strong, the past few months have seen‘cheating’ rumours emerge surrounding Davide and ‘two models’.
He also admitted in a recent interview with The Sun the pair still have their ‘struggles’ due to their ‘public positions’.
It appears, though, the ‘struggles’ with their new-found fame has got too much, with Davide confirming the pair had split on Instagram on Thursday.
He wrote: ‘@ekinsuofficial & I are no longer together.
‘I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and wish her nothing but the best.’
‘I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time I will continue to support Ekin in any way possible.’
According to reports in April, the former Dancing On Ice star was ‘fuming and upset’ with the boohooMAN ambassador, after allegedly finding messages on his phone from the models.
But shortly after, Ekin-Su and Davide put the cheating rumours to bed as they said ‘of course’ they were still together when asked by a fan on Instagram.
The pair had recently enjoyed a trip to his native Italy, although their relaxing break seemed to take a bit of a turn after they ended up in hospital together.
They were also spotted looking perfectly coordinated in ethereal white outfits at the Transformers premiere a few weeks ago.
Speaking about their relationship to The Sun earlier this month, Davide said: ‘The best thing about dating Ekin Su is that we understand each other – not just because we are literally the same person.’
Ekin-Su, meanwhile, had been recently candid about the price of fame and the detrimental impact it has had on her relationships.
She told Cosmopolitan UK: ‘I don’t have any friends. I have one friend and that’s it.
‘Unfortunately, with the fame, you see people’s true colours. People just want to be your friend because of your status, and it’s a hard industry to trust.’
The split comes after Ekin-Su announced she was quitting the UK to try her luck at acting in Hollywood.
