Lovelorn woman lured to death by organ-trafficking ring: Cops

The 51-year-old Mexican woman decided to take a leap of faith and make the 4,800-km trek from her home to Peru to see the mystery man.

But her family says that on Nov. 7, she stopped responding to attempts at contact by loved ones.

An avid gamer, she met a 37-year-old Peruvian medical student named Juan Pablo Jesus Villafuerte through one session. Arellano fell head over heels in love with her digital paramour and flew to Peru in July.

Early reports to home from Peru indicated that the new relationship was blossoming. But in November, when her niece Karla could not reach Arellano, she reached out to Villafuerte.

Cops say he told the worried niece that Arellano had grown tired of the relationship and had returned to Mexico.

Two days later, fishermen in Peru found Arellano’s head and several hours later her torso — with the organs removed — was discovered. Later that day, a severed finger with a ring washed ashore.

Detectives arrested Villafuerte on Nov. 17 in connection with Arellano’s grisly murder. Officials claim the motive was obtaining her organs.

Peru’s General Attorney Zoraida Ávalos said: “Juan Pablo Villafuerte was arrested on charges of human organs trafficking.”

But investigators don’t believe the debauched Don Juan acted alone and say he was almost certainly part of an organ-trafficking ring. Between the time of the Mexican woman’s disappearance and his arrest, Villafuerte allegedly posted TikTok videos that featured him dissecting human organs, including a brain.

Cops honed in on the suspect after Arellano’s family identified the ring on the severed finger that floated ashore. Her family also directed detectives to Villafuerte — the last person known to have seen her alive.

According to the El Pais newspaper, cops searched his home and it looked like a slaughterhouse, with blood in the bathroom, laundry room, on his mattress, and mixed in with his cleaning supplies.
