Anthony Yarde breaks boxing machine record with sonic-boom strike

Lyndon Arthur has mocked Anthony Yarde for singing during their press conference as the pair faced off ahead of their rematch this weekend.

The British pair will do battle for a second time on Saturday night with Yarde looking to avenge the points defeat he suffered in May last year.

Meanwhile Arthur will be looking to cement his status as the UK’s leading light-heavyweight with a second victory to close the rivalry.

Tension built during the face-off to preview their showdown this weekend with Arthur telling Yarde to “stop singing” after he burst into a musical rendition.

Yarde burst into song : “In response to what you said if my punches start raining, ‘you can’t stop the rain when it starts to pour’ if I let my hands go I don’t even need to say anything.

To which Arthur quickly responded : “Please don’t sing no more brother, boxing is a better option for you. It is what it is let’s go Saturday we haven’t got long to wait now but please please stop singing.”

Arthur damaged his hand during the initial meeting fighting for a large part of the second half of the fight with just one arm active, using his jab to elevate his advantage on the scorecards.

However Yarde was extremely disappointed with the judges decision and immediately vowed to defeat his domestic rival in a second tilt.

The pair have been active since with Yarde responding to defeat by securing a comfortable first round stoppage over Alex Theran, while Arthur also secured a stoppage over Davide Faratici.

With one victory already to his name over his rival, Arthur has vowed to use a “boring” style if necessary to record a similar result to the opening meeting.

“It is completely cool for him to say I am a boring fighter because the boring fighter won,” Arthur said at the press conference. “I don’t need to listen to anyone, if they think I am boring, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

“It is sport and everyone in this room has an opinion on me and him. Whether they like me or him is down to them. I don’t care.

Who will win the rematch on Saturday night – Lyndon Arthur or Anthony Yarde? let us know in the comments section below

If I am boring, I will win boring. We will find out on Saturday whether a crowd benefits either of us. He thinks it does, but I don’t think it benefits him. I don’t care, it is a fight and the crowd can’t get in there.”

Yarde was heavy critical of his opponent’s tactical approach to the fight with his evasive style causing real problems to the normally explosive British star.
