Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox Chained Themselves Together by Their Nails

According to Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, staying attached at the hip is not nearly as stylish as being attached by the nail. The newly named nail polish brand founder and Fox showed their affection for one another by literally connecting their pinky nails with a long, gray chain on December 4. This unconventional display of affection was in celebration of the launch of Kelly’s new nail polish brand, UN/DN LAQR.

Although the rest of their fingers are slightly different, both pinky nails are filed into an almond shape and painted hot pink with black, curvy lines on top. Perhaps the design was a take on this fall’s marble nail-art trend, or the emerging abstract swirl nail art trend? Marbley designs were all over the red carpet at the most recent award show — the 2021 American Music Awards — with stars like actor Marsai Martin and rapper Iann Dior getting in on the trend.

It comes as no surprise that Kelly’s and Fox’s manicures involved a chain, though. Kelly also attended the AMAs wearing a manicure that came with a chain on each nail while wearing three shades of polish from his new nail polish line.

Now that we’re in the homestretch of 2021, will chains be on nails everywhere in 2022? Nail artist Sigourney Nuñez previously told Allure “that creative self-expression is a big theme for nails in the new year.” So there is a possibility that chains may be on manicures next year, but Nuñez thinks multicolor manicures will reign supreme come 2022. Press-on nails with pre-made designs are also expected to be big in the new year, which means that finding chains on nails in 2022 is quite slim.

As for chaining yourself to your partner? That’s probably best left just for show.
