News of the 64-year-old pop icon’s hospitalisation was announced last Wednesday (June 28) as a statement confirmed that her 40th-anniversary tour was also being put on hold.
She was initially found unresponsive, and was rushed in an ambulance for treatment, with doctors discovering she had contracted a serious bacterial infection.
Thankfully, the Vogue hitmaker is now back home and surrounded by her loved ones.
However, according to reports, she is not recovering ‘as quickly as she expected’.
A source told TMZ that Madonna is still ‘weak and very tired’.
She’s also thought to be spending ‘a significant amount of time in bed’.
But, the outlet adds that she is ‘not waving the white flag’ on her tour just yet, despite remaining tight-lipped on the shows’ futures with the people she interacts with.
Madonna is due to hit the stage for her 40th-anniversary tour in just 10 days’ time, with her team still having offered no confirmation over whether her July 15 concert in Vancouver will go ahead.
It comes after reports that the star was ‘vomiting uncontrollably’ and was ‘too sick’ to leave her bed after being discharged from hospital and returning to her New York home.
An insider claimed she was ‘bedridden’ with those around her thinking ‘she’s in no shape to kick off her world tour’.
The sources added to TMZ: ‘Madonna’s been vomiting uncontrollably since being discharged from the hospital, and the infection is still wreaking havoc on her body.’
However, a source told Metro.co.uk that Madonna is ‘resting at home, feeling better and following doctors orders’ after her family ‘feared the worst’ when she was in ICU.
And despite the status of her tour still being unclear, fans are aware of how hard Madonna was working on perfecting the shows, as she’s said to have been rehearsing for 12 hours a day before falling ill.
A source told People that Madonna ‘didn’t want to take time away’ from practice, which is why she ‘ignored some symptoms of illness’ for ‘quite a while’.
They claimed she was ‘not feeling 100%’ in recent weeks, but she is ‘relentless’ in her quest to put on the best show, and wanted to fine-tune her shows for her fans.
