MAFS star apologises for making PROBLEMATIC health claims

Ex-MAFS star Ella Ding has issued a lengthy apology for ignorant comments suggesting cancer could be cured with positive thinking on her podcast Sit With Us.

Ding and co-host Domenica Calarco were dragged to filth online for implying listeners could cure cancer with their minds in their podcast episode Practising Gratitude.

The pair’s chat divulged into sheer stupidity when Ding began discussing the impact mindset has on health and the book How to Rewire Your Brain by Joe Dispenza.

“Your mind can kill you. It can make you sick. If you’re sick in whatever way it may be, whether it’s with illness, if you have cancer, or if you have depression, you can literally make yourself sicker by focusing on how sick you are. You can end up terminally ill,” she said.

“(Dispenza) has hundreds of case studies of people who were sick with cancer, and he literally trained them to just imagine not being sick.

“Imagine the cancer is leaving your body. Imagine the cells are going away. He’s literally cured patients without chemotherapy.”

She also told a story about a friend’s mother who travelled to Mexico where she healed her cancer using an alternative treatment.

On Friday Ding posted a lengthy apology to her Instagram story apologising for her serious claim and said she was “not intending to provide any medical or treatment advice and was not qualified to do so”.

“In this podcast, I made mention of a personal family friend and her experience with cancer. This was not meant as advice, it was me relaying a story I personally witnessed and saw the effects of,” Ding wrote.

“In response to some of the comments following on from the podcast, I acknowledge and take full accountability that I should have made this clearer. I apologise for this.

“I will ensure that I am more careful in the future when sharing information and stories in relation to these sorts of topics.”

Concerned listeners have continued slamming Ding and Calarco on the Sit With Us social media accounts, labelling their remarks as “dangerous and offensive” at best.

While others shared personal stories.

“This was very disappointing. Coming from someone who has just lost my dad 2 weeks ago from aggressive stage 4 lymphoma,” one listener wrote.

“My dad is the most positive, brave, optimistic person you will ever meet. I think if changing mindset could cure him he would be here today.

“I don’t feel like you probably intended it to be that way. But this is a good time for learning and reflection.”
