Magnetic Press have launched their SDCC-inspired virtual booth once again for Magnetic-Con ‘23. Set up as a six day digital campaign on Backerkit, backers can enjoy a swathe of exclusive merchandise and discounted books by the publisher of international comics. The campaign will end July 25 with orders expected to ship around late August.

According to the campaign page:

“Conceptually, MAGNETIC-CON is a celebration of the best graphic novels and art books published by Magnetic Press, featuring past, present, and future titles that showcase some of the most creatively inspiring talent and projects from around the world.

“In actuality, MAGNETIC-CON is simply our way of hosting an annual event for fans regardless of location, with exclusive content and swag to complete the “attendee experience!””

Adding a disclaimer:

“This is not a real convention per se — no live in-person location, no panels, no costume contests, no special screenings, etc — just one awesome online event full of hot exclusive stuff! It’s like having a Comic-Con booth, but online so anyone can participate!”

The Magnetic-Con ‘23 Backerkit campaign features an exclusive annual, event t-shirts, branded Magnetic-Con lanyards and badges, and ten themed VIP loot boxes. In addition the publisher is offering steep discounts on its catalogue of books and tabletop games of up to 60%.

Magnetic-Con '23

The Magnetic-Con ‘23 Annual will be a 64 page book featuring sneak peaks – including a forthcoming Osamu Tezuka tribute project and five forthcoming titles – an original 12-page Black Box anthology story, spotlight galleries of the work of Georges Bess, Sergio Toppi, and Zach Howard, as well as table top role playing games resources and previews.

The first Magnetic-Con ran July 19-July 29 as a virtual promotional campaign on Kickstarter, described as a “virtual convention booth” where fans unable to visit SDCC could vicariously experience the magic and support the publisher of international comics and tabletop games. It raised $14,584 from 314 backers. Those that pledged were able to receive physical and digital rewards including limited edition lanyards and badges, t-shirts, an art book, and VIP packages containing a choice of two new Magnetic Press releases.
