In the inaugural edition, Gulbarga Mystics defeated Bengaluru Blasters to clinch the title in the four-team tournament. The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2023 season the tournament sees the addition of two more franchises.
The teams that will compete in the upcoming edition will be the defending champions Gulbarga Mystics, Bengaluru Blasters, Hubli Tigers, Mysuru Warriors, Mangalore Dragons and the rebranded Shivamogga Lions.
Before the action on the field, all the six teams will look to build their squads for the upcoming season during a one-day auction, which will see hundreds of player go under the hammer.
There is no information available on the players list and retention rules if any as it stands. However, as per a previous release by KSCA, the purse, squad size limits and the category of players that will be called out for the bidding process were all revealed.

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2023 player auction is scheduled to be held on Saturday (July 22) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which will host all the matches of the season.
What time is the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction 2023 starting?
The auction is scheduled to start at 10 AM IST on Saturday (July 22) and as per the broadcaster, bidding process is likely to end around 7 PM IST on Saturday (July 22).
What is the purse allotted for a franchise to spend at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 Acution 2023?
Each franchise will have a purse of 50 Lakh from which they can bid for players, whose names will be called out for the process, in five different categories as follows:
Category A: India and IPL players
Category B: All senior players that have played BCCI State tournaments such as Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ranji Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Category C: Players that have played in Under 25, Under 23 & Under 19 BCCI tournaments
Category D: All other registered players of KSCA
Catchment Area Players: Players from respective catchment areas
What will be the base price in Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction 2023?
The base price is yet to be revealed for all the four categories, but if last year’s model for reserve price is followed, then Category A players will start at Rs 5 Lakhs, Category B at Rs 3 Lakhs, Category C at Rs 1 Lakh, Category D at Rs 50,000 and Catchment Area at Rs 30,000.
What is the squad maximum and minimum limit for Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 teams?
The rule states that each team must have a minimum of 15 players and no more than 20 players including two players from their respective catchment areas.
Will the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 auction be shown on TV?
Yes, the player auction on Saturday (July 22) will be broadcast live on Star Sports Kannada from 10 AM IST to 7 PM IST. There will be live studio show when there is a break in the auction process.
