A MAJOR airline has added new flights to three popular holiday destinations for Scottish travellers.
Ryanair is launching 12 weekly flights from Aberdeen to Spain and Portugal ahead of the summer.
Starting from April, holidaymakers flying from the Granite City can choose from four journeys per week to each of Alicante, Malaga and Faro.
The budget airline’s move is aimed to support more than 50 jobs in Aberdeen.
Speaking to Aberdeen Live, the company’s head of communications Jade Kirwan said: “We are conscious to retain customers and make sure that everyone is able to travel because accessibility is in our DNA.
“We are trying to support people with larger bookings so that’s why we’ve said families who might be trying to get away in the summer period will be able to get things a bit cheaper if they book now.

“We’re conscious that they might not want to pay it all upfront immediately so our Family Plus bundle enables them to pay half of their fare upfront and then pay the other half up to 40 days pre-departure.
“It just gives a bit more flexibility and makes the financial management of going on holiday a little bit easier, especially in the current climate.”
Ms Kirwan said there is talk of further expansion in future and more routes in Scotland could be possible.
She said: “We are going to 225 million passengers on 600 aircraft by 2026.
“With that, naturally, we need to target more people so we will be expanding our network of routes over the coming years.
“I don’t have anything specifically for Aberdeen to announce just yet beyond what we’ve announced today but I wouldn’t rule it out.
“We’re always looking at new routes and new opportunities to grow as well so I’m sure we’ll have more exciting news in the future.”
Earlier this month Jet2 announced that due to the large demand, they are launching more trips from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the Balearic Islands.
Holiday makers will have more options than ever before when heading off to the sunny hotspots between March and May, including the Easter holidays.
Among the new UK routes includes additional services from both Glasgow and Edinburgh to Majorca in April.
