The Margarita is a universally beloved cocktail, especially for those who are a fan of tequila.
While the strong taste isn’t to everyone’s liking, this warm-weather drink is incredibly versatile and can be made to suit any palette.
Whether it be a mocktail or fruity alternative – like mango or raspberry, there are a few flavours this recipe doesn’t work with.
But for those craving the classic lime flavours this recipe is very simple to make.
And all that’s needed is a handful of readily available ingredients.

A chef at Izzy Cooking said: “The easiest margarita is made of only three ingredients: tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice.
“No matter whether you want to have a quick drink for yourself or make a big pitcher, you can never go wrong with this cocktail!”
To make the refreshing drink start by filling a small bowl or plate with table salt, or sugar for a sweeter taste.
Rub a slice of fresh lime around the rim of each serving glass and immediately dip into the salt.
Next:
-
In a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and syrup.
-
Shake for about 20 seconds.
-
Give it a taste and add more syrup or other ingredients if needed.
Set the prepared glasses aside before moving on to the margarita mix.
To make this, add a few cubes of ice, the 60ml shot of tequila, a 30ml shot of Cointreau (or alternative orange liqueur), the lime juice, and syrup to a cocktail shaker.
A large water bottle with a secure lid can be used instead, as long as it is properly fitted before shaking the ingredients together.
Shake above the shoulder for around 20 seconds before testing the flavour. More syrup or lime can be added at this point to taste.
Fill the rimmed glass three-quarters full of ice then pour in the mixture. Garnish with lime wedges, serve and enjoy.
