Make Sure To Have 125GB Of SSD Space If You Want To Play Starfield

Bethesda dropped a massive deep dive video showcasing its upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield earlier this week, which undoubtedly left a good number of gamers with a mighty need to play the game for themselves. While still a couple of months away, the publisher was kind enough to share the system requirements on the game’s official Steam page shortly after, which is always handy to help you prepare for its upcoming release in September.

First things first, in case you couldn’t already tell from the video, Starfield certainly won’t be a small scale romp. In fact, Bethesda is promising over a thousand worlds that players can visit, explore, build bases and take on missions at, with plenty more content expected on top of all that. These include massive amounts of customisation not only for player characters, but also their own personal ships, equipment, weapons, and so on.

With all of the above in mind, you’re not wrong to assume that the publisher’s next epic RPG will demand a sizable chunk of storage space – a total of 125GB to be exact, according to the official system requirements on Starfield’s official Steam page. And like most titles nowadays, it is recommended that you download and install it on an SSD drive or risk performance issues. Keep in mind that the same amount of storage space requirement applies to the Xbox version as well.

Granted, games coming in at over 100GB isn’t all that new. Titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us Part 1 are already asking for a similar figure, while the more recent Star Wars Jedi: Survivor demands a whopping 155GB of SSD space. In other words, be sure to free up plenty of available space and, depending on your internet connection, be prepared to wait awhile before you can enjoy your new games.

Performance-wise, Bethesda notes that Starfield requires that you have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K at minimum, or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel i5-10600K at best. Likewise for graphics acceleration, the lowest supported cards include the AMD Radeon RX 5700 and the NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti, while at most you are recommended to own either an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080. Those who are still on Microsoft Windows 10 will be glad to know that the game does support the last-gen operating system – the 22H2 (10.0.19045) version, to be more precise.

Starfield is slated to be released on 6 September 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, as well as on PC via Steam. Pre-orders for the game are available now, with the standard edition going for RM239 while the Digital Premium Edition is priced at RM349.
