Prannoy progressed to the final after his unseeded Indonesian opponent Christian Adinata was forced to withdraw due to a nasty injury in the semi-final match with the scoreline in favour of the Indian at 19-17 in the first game.
Earlier in the quarter-final, the Indian continued his rich vein of form as he booked his final berth after a hard-fought win against Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto. The Indian defeated the Japanese shuttler 25-23, 18-21, 21-13 in the quarter-final that lasted for an hour and 31 minutes.
In the earlier rounds, the Prannoy came from a game down to stun sixth seeded Chou Tien-chen of Chinese Taipei in the opening round by 16-21, 21-14, 21-13 followed by a second round victory in similar fashion against China’s Li Shi Feng by 13-21, 21-16, 21-11.
Hong Yang, on the other hand, claimed a straight games win over Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun-yi in the other semifinal to reach final. The Chinese shuttler defeated his opponent 21-13, 21-19 in the semi-final match that lasted for 59 minutes.
Earlier in the quarter-final, the unseeded Chinese shuttler got past NG Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong in a tightly fought contest, taking the match 23-21, 14-21, 21-14 in an hour and 26 minutes.

In the earlier rounds, the Chinese claimed straight game win over second-seeded Anthony Sinisuka Ginting by a scoreline of 21-19, 21-15 after a hard-fought win over Japan’s Kenta Momota in the opening round by 21-13, 21-23, 21-16.
