PV Sindhu won her quarter-final tie in a thrilling match against Zhang Yi Man of China 21-16, 13-21, 22-20. She will face Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia who is Ranked 9th in the BWF World Rankings in the Semi-Finals.
Prannoy also continued his scintillating run in the BWF World Tour Super 500 Event as he defeated Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 25-23, 18-21, 21-13 in the quarter-finals and moved into the Semifinals where he will face Christian Adinata of Indonesia.
PV Sindhu wins a Thriller
Sindhu took the first game 21-16, but was pegged back with a 13-21 defeat in the second game. In the decider, she came back against the Georgian and secured a thrilling victory on 22-20 to confirm her berth in the semi-finals.
Prannoy breezes past Nishimoto
HS Prannoy won the first game 25-23, but failed to win it in straight sets as Nishimoto came back to restore parity in the second game. But it was a thumping victory for the Indian shuttler in the decider as he won 21-13 to confirm his place in the semi-finals.
Kidambi exits in Quarter-Finals
It was a disappointing day for another Indian shuttler Srikanth Kidambi, who lost to Indonesia’s Christian Adinata in the quarter-finals. Kidambi took the first game 21-16, but then lost the remaining games 16-21 and 11-21 to exit from the tournament.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday (May 27) at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lampur and the Final of each category will be taking place on Sunday (May 28) at the same venue.
