When you think of luxury golf apparel, the first thing to come to mind isn’t usually style, just like you wouldn’t necessarily correlate aviation with being cool. However, today’s entrepreneurs are disrupting all industries, especially most staid ones. Malbon Golf creates premium golf apparel with an undeniable style that appeals to modern golfers looking for something different. Wheels Up offers a private-members’-club experience in the sky. The two were natural partners for one of Wheels Up’s first forays into fashion, which they revealed today.
Stephen Malbon, Co-Founder at Malbon, is proud of the partnership and the companies’ shared values. He says, “The way we approach golf is the same way Wheels Up approaches the aviation industry in terms of reimagining a new way to do things. Our collaboration is for people who love to golf and travel, offering premium pieces with details that are always ready for the next round.”
What prompted Wheels Up to create a golf collaboration? Many of their members fly privately to golf courses, many of which aren’t close to commercial airports with direct flights, so flying privately saves them time. Lee Applbaum, CMO at Wheels Up, also admires the ethos of Malbon. “Malbon is an innovative brand in a pretty homogenous golf apparel space, and speaks to the disruptive and inclusive spirit that is such an important part of our Wheels Up brand,” he said in an exclusive statement “We worked directly with their designers and influencers to deliver this small capsule collection and couldn’t be prouder of the products, including their signature ‘Buckets’ mascot with an old school aviator helmet and goggles, exclusive to Wheels Up. This kind of subtle design element is what makes this collection truly bespoke.”
The collection is tightly edited, featuring pieces in neutrals and some pops of blue, the signature hue of Wheels Up. It has several tops, including polos, tees, a crewneck sweater, and quarter-zip sweaters. Several pieces have an embroidered Malbon Golf x Wheels Up Buckets motif on the chest. It also includes a chic golf bag and hats. Despite launching just this morning, a few pieces have sold out already, so you’d better move quickly to snap them up.
While the collection is just for men, they plan to have a women’s collaboration in the future. The collection is available for purchase on Malbon’s website. Wheels Up plans to create its own online store for future collaborations.
