Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena said that his team are only focused on their own preparation and campaign.

“Our focus is always on ourselves. We try to make sure that we always do the best that we can for this football club.

He went on: “We have to focus on ourselves and our performance as well as give ourselves the best opportunity to win the match and get as close as possible to getting to ten (10) points. We also have to target qualification to the next round and work very hard because we have to earn everything we receive. Nothing is given to us on a silver platter”, said Coach Mokwena.

“We try to win every single game, every sprint, training session and we try to bring the winning mentality that is recognizable by the supporters of this club. We go into the next match with that mentality.

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Al-Ahly on Saturday (11 March 2023) at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. The CAF CL fixture will Kick off at 15h00.

Under pressure

Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller is under pressure after an indifferent start to his tenure.

He expects another tough match against the Brazilians.

“It will be a difficult game,” Koller said in the press conference. 

“I think the result of our first meeting [2-2 draw] was disappointing for me and my staff, and that’s why we are motivated for tomorrow’s game.

“But we showed that we were a strong match for them and we are confident we can get a positive result.

“All players are ready for the game, and we will talk about the formation and team selection after today’s training session,” he added.
