The next step was to have a PET scan, which again, to Trevor’s relief, showed absolutely no spread.
The consultant deemed I was ideal for the Whipple’s procedure, to surgically remove the tumour and give me the best chance of a successful outcome.
“I have never smoked or drunk alcohol. I played sport and had a physical job (I worked 37 years in a coal mine) so I was considered fit for my age,” Trevor explained.
Trevor underwent Whipple’s surgery and the operation was successful.
The Whipple procedure is the primary surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer that occurs within the head of the gland.
