A spectator died after falling from an escalator inside Acrisure Stadium following the conclusion of Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets, ESPN reports.
The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety said in a press release that police and EMS situated inside the stadium responded to a call around 4:45 p.m. regarding an accident involving an adult male. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
The victim has not been publicly identified.
“We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,” the Steelers said in a statement obtained by ESPN. “We are working with local authorities and helping their investigation into the matter. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”
