Man loses eight stone in 10 months by eating five meals a day

Aaron exclusively shared with Express.co.uk the moment he realised he needed a change: “I was the best man at my best friend’s wedding.

“The first alarm bells rang when we went suit shopping and all the shops we went to didn’t do suits big enough for me. After browsing the internet we managed to find a site called Jacamo that specialises in plus size clothing.”

Aaron got his plus-size suit but when he saw the wedding photos, “that’s when the second alarm bell went off”.

He explained: “I could see how big I had become and that I could no longer stand the sight of myself. Something had to change.”

Aaron decided to join MAN v FAT Football, a weight loss programme for men that focuses on burning fat through exercise by competing in football tournaments.

MAN v FAT Football motivates players to keep going as “it’s not just goals on the pitch that contribute to your place in the table, it’s weight you lose too”.

The slimmer explained: “I began losing on average 1kg (2.2 pounds) a week and MAN v FAT gave me the motivation and dedication to change as I did not want to let my teammates or myself down.”

He also made some important changes to his diet and instead of skipping meals, he made sure he had five healthy meals a day.

“I stopped skipping meals and gorging in the evenings. I became more active by attending the gym and instead of saying no to everything I said yes, I generally became a more active person.”

Eating five meals a day “filled with healthy food may help keep hunger away and prevent highs and lows in blood sugar levels to support your weight loss,” according to Livestrong.

Health site BetterMe added: “According to Harvard University research, eating frequently can help you shed weight. People who are obese tend to eat less frequently than those who are at a healthy weight.”

At his heaviest, Aaron weighed 23 stone but after 10 months at the football programme, and with the extra help of a personal trainer, he lost an incredible eight stone.

Aaron admitted that sadly, before MAN v FAT, he “didn’t want to leave the house” or want to leave his comfort zone.

“But meeting new like-minded people and shifting some weight brought my confidence came back.”

He continued: “I feel so much better now. You don’t realise how much the excess weight holds you back in life. Whether that’s buying plus-size clothing or needing a metal bed to sleep in (as previously I would break wooden beds’ slats). I’m a much more confident as a person and have recently applied for my dream job.”
