The 56-year-old Nashville man went on an all-Mcdonald’s diet for 100 days, eating just a half portion each time, and lost 58.5 pounds when it ended on Thursday, according to PEOPLE.

Known as @bigmaccoaching on TikTok, Maginnis started at 238 pounds but dropped the first 30 in just over 30 days. And then his wife of 32 years, Melody, decided to join him for the last 60 days of the challenge and she lost 17 pounds.

“I feel amazing,” he said on the TODAY show.

“I’ve eaten everything from Big Macs to quarter pounders — with fries. Don’t get bitter while I’m eating my apple fritter and losing weight!”

Still, there were rules.

There was no exercise, snacking between meals wasn’t allowed, he replaced soda with water, didn’t drink any alcohol, and didn’t eat any fruit and vegetables aside from those in burgers, apple fritters and blueberry muffins.

Maginnis, who had no affiliation with McDonald’s when choosing his 100-day diet, said his next meal was going to be a filet mignon. But he hasn’t given up on Big Macs.

“Are there better macronutrients and micronutrients for brain health or whatever? Absolutely,” he said on TODAY.

“But when it comes to getting rid of obesity, reduce the size of the meals. Three meals, cut in half — it’s not the only way, it’s a way. Portion control, have a plan, and have some accountability.”

Next up for him?

“Increase the beast in me,” he told TODAY.

“I’m going to be doing an ice plunge, I’m going to do a 100-foot rope climb in 100 days. I never made it 10 feet in gym class, so it’s my personal Everest.”
