Man Utd bidder Sheikh Jassim changes his mind as players back Mason Greenwood

The future of Manchester United is still up in the air as Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe battle to complete a takeover of the club. The duo have been the frontrunners to land the Old Trafford outfit for months after the Glazer family put United up for sale last November.

The takeover process has been a frustrating and laborious one for potential suitors, with Sheikh Jassim putting forward five offers and Ratcliffe coming to the table with three. But, still, the Glazers haven’t moved the process forward as quickly as many fans would have liked.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Sheikh Jassim has changed his mind about how he sees the bidding process playing out and no longer sees Ratcliffe as a frontrunner to buy the club. In fact, the Qatari sees the Glazer family as the only obstacle when it comes to completing his purchase and believes the Americans will keep hold of United if they don’t sell it to him.

Meanwhile, United boss Erik ten Hag and some of his players have offered Mason Greenwood their support, according to The Sun. The forward is yet to return to the fold at Old Trafford after being charged at the start of last year with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. The charges have since been dropped, but the player believes a fresh start at United is unlikely.
